On July 16, 2026, Panama Properties hosted another successful webinar focused on helping buyers better understand the process of purchasing and owning real estate in Panama.
More than 25 people attended the live presentation, and the level of participation exceeded our expectations. Attendees asked so many excellent questions that we ran out of time before we could answer them all.
We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. The strong turnout demonstrated how many people are interested in learning more about buying property, relocating, and investing in Panama.

Were you unable to attend the live webinar, or would you like to review the information again?
During the webinar, we covered three important areas that every prospective property buyer should understand.
1. The Panama Property Buying Process from A to Z
Buying property in another country can feel overwhelming, especially when the legal system, contracts, banking procedures, and transaction process may be different from what you are accustomed to.
During the webinar, we explained how the property-buying process generally works in Panama, including:
Identifying suitable properties based on your goals and budget
Making an official offer
Negotiating the principal terms of the purchase
Completing legal and property due diligence
Reviewing the Promise to Purchase Agreement
Paying the required deposit
Arranging financing, when applicable
Preparing for the title transfer and final closing
Registering the property in the buyer’s name
We also discussed why buyers should work with qualified professionals, including a licensed real estate company and a Panamanian attorney experienced in property transactions.
Having the right representation can help buyers understand each step, identify potential problems, and complete the transaction as safely and efficiently as possible.
2. Insurance, Utilities, and Home Maintenance Costs in Panama
The purchase price is only one part of the total cost of owning a home. Buyers also need to consider the regular expenses associated with maintaining and operating the property.
During this section, we discussed common ownership expenses such as:
Property and homeowners’ insurance
Electricity and water
Internet and television services
Swimming pool maintenance
Garden and landscaping services
Air-conditioning maintenance
General repairs and preventative maintenance
Property management
Homeowners’ association fees, when applicable
The actual cost of maintaining a property will depend on its size, location, age, construction quality, amenities, and how frequently it is occupied.
A condominium in Panama City, for example, may have different monthly expenses than a private beach house with a swimming pool and large garden.
Understanding these expenses before purchasing allows buyers to establish a realistic ownership budget and choose a property that fits their lifestyle and financial goals.
3. Vacation Rentals and Property Investment Income in Panama
Many buyers are interested in purchasing a property that can generate rental income when they are not using it.
During the webinar, we discussed the current vacation-rental and investment-property market in Panama, including some of the factors that can influence rental performance.
These factors include:
The location of the property
Proximity to beaches, restaurants, shopping, and attractions
Seasonal tourism demand
Property condition and presentation
Professional photography and online marketing
Management and cleaning expenses
Occupancy levels and average nightly rates
Local rules, building regulations, and rental restrictions
Popular tourism and relocation markets can offer income opportunities, but buyers should approach rental projections carefully. Income is never guaranteed, and expected returns should be based on realistic occupancy, operating expenses, management costs, maintenance, and seasonal fluctuations.
The best investment property is not necessarily the property with the highest advertised nightly rate. Buyers should consider the complete financial picture and ensure that the property also fits their long-term goals.
Questions from Webinar Attendees
The question-and-answer portion of the webinar was extremely active. Attendees asked about the buying process, financing, residency, legal representation, property expenses, rental management, investment returns, and different areas of Panama.
Unfortunately, we ran out of time before we could answer every question.
We plan to continue producing webinars and educational resources to help prospective buyers make informed and confident decisions about purchasing property in Panama.
